utility trim

in vinyl and metal siding systems: a trim accessory used whenever the top lock of a panel has been removed, to secure the edge of the panel. The panel edge is crimped with a snap lock punch along the edge, which is pushed into the utility trim where the crimp (lugs) grip the inside of the utility trim, holding it in place. Utility trim is often used at the bottom of windows and the top of walls. Also called sill trim, undersill trim, finish trim, or seal trim.
