Parallam® is a type of parallel strand lumber (PSL), a composite wood product manufactured using clipped 1- to 2-inch strips pressed together (all grain parallel) into a large billet. The billets are cut into different size pieces for use as high-strength beams and columns. The final material is attractive in appearance and may be left exposed. CCA-treated PSL is also available for exterior use.
