the raised tabs on a vinyl or metal siding (or soffit) panel that are made using a snap lock punch. When the nail hem of a panel must be cut off, crimp are punched six inches apart in a row near the panel edge. The panel is then pushed into a utility trim that is fastened to the building and the crimp grips the inside of the trim, holding it in place. Crimp are also referred to as lug, lugs or snap-lock lugs.
