Lock Block Purpose
What is the purpose of a lock block?
A lock block is a piece of wood or other solid material that the door manufacturer installs in a hollow core door to reinforce the area where the lockset is installed. The concealed block is attached to the inside edge of the latch style and glued between the face panels.
As illustrated below, the lock block is often bored and otherwise machined to receiving hardware.
